China, Russia "strengthen" internet control

Kina, Rusia "forcojnë" kontrollin në internet

A senior U.S. official said that China and Russia are buying
powerful technology of surveillance in an effort to
"Control" of Internet communications.
Senior Advisor of U.S. Secretary of State Alec Ross said
"Many countries of the Middle East, Russia, China and others" are taking a "more aggressive stance in an attempt to control the internet."
He said that China, Russia and other countries have spent billions
dollars to purchase surveillance technology.
In these countries, according to him, there were very few legal restrictions to prevent authorities from using technology to monitor their populations.
He said that the purchases made by the regimes were accelerated after
popular protests in Iran following the disputed election
presidential elections in 2009.
